According to the history of this region, Mahabaleshwar was established by Sir John Malcolm in the nineteenth century as a health resort. It has an elevation of over 1300 meters, and generally has a pleasant climate for most part of the year. From the month of June to September, tourism in this hill station is affected by torrential rains, and tourists are advised not to visit Mahabaleshwar around this time.
